Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Retrieval Registrar
Expressions of interest are sought from Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Registrars who would like to spend a six month or longer term as a Retrieval Registrar in Queensland Australia
Positions are available commencing July 2008 and January 2009.
CareFlight Medical Services Retrieval Registrars are based at:
- Gold Coast
- Brisbane
- Townsville
- Mackay
- Cairns
CareFlight Medical Services has positions accredited with ANZCA and JFICM (with approval) for six months training in Retrieval Medicine. Duties include helicopter, turboprop fixed wing, jet fixed wing and rapid response road ambulance retrievals and helicopter rescue tasking. A comprehensive induction training programme is provided incorporating aviation medicine, pre hospital scenario management, underwater escape training, and aircraft operational and safety instruction. CMS has a robust QA and CME programme.
Essential criteria
- Completion of a minimum of two years in ANZCA/JFICM accredited training positions and completion of primary examinations (or equivalent)
- Ability to work as a team member in adverse conditions including vertical rescue, helicopter winching, and marine rescue tasks
- A reasonable level of physical fitness
- Eligible for registration with Queensland Medical Board
- Australian citizen or employment/training visa
Desirable criteria
- EMST/ATLS/APLS/MIMMS certified
- Experience in paediatric anaesthesia
- Experience in adult and paediatric intensive care
- Retrieval or pre hospital medicine experience
